10 simple tips to Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

We have reached to a point in our life where everything is haphazard and we are stuck at a phase where solutions are difficult since we were (and are) the very reason of complications. To name a few, unavailability of water, climatic changes, pollution, ailments, miscarriages etc., None but we created these.

A few of us (including me), would want to try to do basic changes so as to contribute the teeniest way possible to make some positive impact on our own lives and thus our motherland, welcome 🙂 Am not a pro, but I am here to share today what I’ve tried as a beginner. Very basic beginner & I have a long way to go!

1. Cloth Bags for shopping

I ensure to carry cloth bags always. In case you think you would forget, buy 2 or 3 and keep one folded in each of your general bags or hang along with keys in the holder.

2. Say “NO” to customer copy when we swipe cards

Why print it, if we are just going to crush and throw?

3. Make your own cards/gift wrappers

All we need is a bit of creativity & patience (minus digital diversion). We tap and use our own talent and it really means a lot to the loved ones to share handmade gifts 🙂

4. If you have excess, donate and not throw

What seems useless to us might be a “need” for some. Let us make sure to donate and they would be more than happy to receive and reuse.

5. Use unused cosmetics in different ways and means

One example I can share is when I had to get rid of Sulphate shampoo I had no choice but to throw. My friend came forward to use it & I was shocked to know how it can be used. She uses the shampoo to clean her bike which leaves it with a sparkle 😀 No more extra expenditure on car/vehicle cleaners!

Face care products doesn’t suit you? Just apply it on your body and the skin would feel pampered.

6. “NO” to plastic brush

We have done enough damage already :/

7. “NO” fancy kitchen wipes

I was this same person who got fancy kitchen wipes to clean the slab. A year down the lane, I understood that old used cloth cleans the slab more effectively and I switched back to basics (Mommy is never wrong!)

8. Shikakai and herbal powders for beauty care

It does good for us and the environment. Why would our ancestors insist on them? They just couldn’t reason it scientifically right. However, we can read a lot now, with the available resources!

9. Back to Stainless Steel Tiffin boxes/storage boxes

10. Reuse Glass bottles or turn them into a piece of art

When the west is respecting us now for what we practice, we assume and believe we are moving ahead by spoiling our revered culture. Time to think, friend.
